Independent Journalism in Phoenix Needs You
We need to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
Are you reading this while lying in bed in the middle of the day? If so, you’re probably afflicted with a heavy case of the hot August blues. No worries, though, because all you need to do is move that atrophied body, which you can and should during Rumba Thursdays at La Taverna. Mangu Entertainment presents the weekly, 18-and-over shindig that not only includes salsa-dance shows by Bridgette Maria and Rumba Azteca, but also a participatory salsa class that’s open to all levels. If all of that doesn’t make you wanna ditch the futon, then check out the tuneage by Tempe-based Fuerza Caribe, a can-never-be-hated-on bachata band that will perform its energetic jams on opening night.
