Jeremy Kittel Band

Jeremy Kittel is a young, fairly attractive young man who plays violin. Now, before your mind is cluttered with images of Andrew Birds, Owen Palletts, and Tobie Milfords, let’s get this straight: Kittel doesn’t play indie violin-folk, he plays classically minded jazz, bluegrass, and Celtic music. When he does veer into more modern territory, it’s not playing the kind of stuff that gets your record reviewed at Pitchfork. Kittel recently recorded a version of Jimi Hendrix’s take on “Hey Joe,” which is sure to grab the attention of old dudes who buy those various-artist “String Tribute” or “Bluegrass Takes On” series. Kittel will bring his classically trained band to the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, which features instruments from all over the world, including the piano on which John Lennon wrote “Imagine.”
