Rampage, a.k.a. the Lieutenant of Busta Rhymes Flipmode Crew, is surely not the only hip-hop artist to be quoted as saying, “I want to tell the youth that instead of hustling on the block they need to get an education.” But this Flatbush-born, Phoenix-based rapper is putting his money where his mouth is.

Rampage headlines 2011 Taste of Arizona, a benefit for the New Hope Outreach Program of Excellence. The event kicks off with a runway fashion show, accompanied by live music from the aptly named Pierre Kardin and others, followed by spoken word performances and a comedy showcase. For the grand finale, Rampage will perform, and presumably leave the audience wanting more – which is why there’s an after party in Mesa at 9 p.m., hosted by Rampage and featuring DJ Ghost.

Sun., June 12, 4-7:30 p.m., 2011
