Independent Journalism in Phoenix Needs You

We need to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.

$15,000

JahMek Selecta has never met a Jamaican-inspired beat he didn’t like. For the better part of two decades now, the dreadlock-wearing DJ has unleashed cratefulls of irie electonic anthems over the amplifiers of clubs across the Valley, shaking both windows and dental work with dub, reggae, and dancehall tracks aplenty.

JahMek will give the Jamaican jams a rest goes when he goes on a drum ‘n’ bass bender, Wednesday, September 28, during the Konkrete Jungle Arizona night at the Goat Head Saloon, 1423 South Country Club Drive in Mesa. He’s one of nine different DJs that spin up d’n’b bliss – including Zac Maniac, DJ Babel, Estefex, and Robotech – during the weekly event while MC Shellz spits out some game on the mic.

Wed., Sept. 28, 8 p.m., 2011
