There are plenty of perfectly acceptable reasons for folks to disrobe. The usual suspects include: sex, sleep, showering, and, once a year, the No Pants Light Rail Ride. That’s right, as in pantsless masses boarding mass transit. Conceptualized by New York comedy group Improv Everywhere in 2002, Arizona’s annual version of the no-pants party has become a phenomenon in the past four years.
In a brilliant pairing of blatancy and nonchalance, those brave enough to get on board simply do so, along with unassuming passengers, having all left their legwear at home. So, aspiring jokesters, if you’re willing to doff your dungarees and strut your stems, then your train has just arrived.

Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $15,500 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
