Oh, to be absorbed in an artist’s narrative. From political paranoia and impossible missions to tales of trash cans and shoe-decorated telephone wires, SMoCA’s “Artists Tell Stories (Mostly About Themselves)” is an exhibition that welcomes the audience into the works and stories of five artists.
Through video, installation, and large-scale drawings, explore Jon Gitelson’s surveillance mission to find out who is stealing Chicago trash cans; William Lamson’s looped interactions between himself, a ladder, a bow and arrow, and a pair of shoes hanging from a telephone wire; and Deb Sokolow’s bizarre theories about the connections between the US Postal Service and the drug trade.
Tuesdays-Sundays; Thu., Dec. 22, 12-8 p.m. Starts: Oct. 29. Continues through Jan. 22, 2011
