In the performance world, being a triple-threat usually means you can sing, dance, and act equally well. It also means that every actress of similar age is imagining you strung up in traction when they tell you to “break a leg.”
Ib Andersen is a different kind of triple-threat, a celebrated dancer who directs and choreographs for Ballet Arizona. So it’s only fitting that Andersen will present three works in Director’s Choice.
Like a top chef doling out his favorite dishes, Andersen offers selections that hold personal appeal. This year’s mélange of delicious and delicate dances includes the starlight-drenched In the Night, by Broadway superstar Jerome Robbins, a condensed version of Marius Petipa’s 1881 Paquita, and Sueños, an original work featuring a largely male cast.

Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $15,500 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
