Under normal circumstances, a birthday party involves friends and family heaping plenty of gifts and good tidings upon the guest of honor. Not so with Joel Davis. The P-town selecta (better known as DJ Epidemic) is turning 22 this week, but he’s the one who’s been providing the presents to his fans, in the form of the masterful mixes of hip-hop and electro that he’s been dropping on his Web site (www.djepidemic.com) in recent weeks. Chances are you’ll be hearing many of the same sweet sounds when Davis celebrates his annual anniversary of existence on Saturday, April 10, with a special Caked Up spin session alongside Element and Mane-One during the weekly Solstice shindig at Bar Smith, 130 East Washington Street. As the name of the party implies, there will also be plenty of cupcakes, brownies, and other birthday treats available. Admission is $10 after 10:30 p.m. Call 602-229-1265.
