Keep Phoenix New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $10,000 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Nowadays everyone is a photographer. Cell phone cameras have flooded our Facebook feeds with countless pointless images of our friends trying on outfits and snapshots of unimpressive homemade food (thanks so much, Instagram). That’s why when someone deems himself a photographer our default response is an eye roll.
But the photographers whose works are on display in “Photography ‘12” lay legit claim to being pic snappers. At Modified Arts through Saturday, May 12, the free exhibition includes moving photos of the American landscape, the faces of run down Phoenix neighborhoods, and shots taken in an economically challenged Russian town. Dana Buhl, Eduardo L. Rivera, Jeff Rau, and Nadia Sablin are the four emerging photographers responsible for the images.
