How exactly Jon Rauhouse earned the nickname Mr. Orchid Fingers is unclear, but upon listening to one of Arizona’s most respected guitarists it’s safe to assume that his soulful and deliberate approach had something to do with it. The veteran journeyman is best known for his collaborative efforts with outstanding alto crooner Neko Case, but solo efforts such as 2007’s Jon Rauhouse’s Steel Guitar Heart Attack cast a more resplendent light on his ample chops as a guitarist and a songwriter. Each song an anachronism in it’s own right, Rauhouse’s material stirs up an almost tangibly aromatic nostalgia upon listening, further validation for one of the hippest nicknames in the biz.
