Keep Phoenix New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $10,000 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
If you ask us, being stuck in the desert for another weekend of 100-plus-degree weather earns us the right to indulge in a little escapism. When Phoenix Caribbean Carnival arrives to inject some island spice into Valley life, it’ll make for a welcome staycation.
Festivities heat up on Friday, May 25, and stay hot through May 27, with CityScape, 1 East Washington Street, serving as the sizzling center. Sunday starts at 7 a.m. with a free parade and the opening of the carnival village, which includes live performances, food, and arts and crafts, and remains open until 4 p.m. The revelry wraps up with the Las’ Lap party at 9 p.m. at Scottsdale’s Ocean 7 Nightclub, 1420 North Scottsdale Road, where admission is $10.
