Keep Phoenix New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $10,000 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
If Jerry Seinfeld’s new web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee has inspired you to learn a little more about the world of car collecting and, well, cars in general (it’s okay, we don’t know what carburetors do either), then azRockabilly’s The Cursing of the Rides 2012 is your chance to get an up-close look at hot rods, low riders, and custom bikes.
Contrary to Seinfeldism, in which nothing matters and nothing is everything, the event will include a whole lot of somethings — namely a pin-up contest, performances from The Embalmers, Curse of the Pink Hearse, and Wreckhouse Strangers, and the opportunity for car lovers to curse the vehicles they’ve put blood, sweat, and tears into building.
Los Desperados Car Club hosts the rockabilly rabble-rousing Saturday, September 1, starting at 5 p.m. at Yucca Tap Room. Admission is free. Canned food donations will be accepted for St. Mary’s Food Bank.
Sat., Sept. 1, 9 p.m., 2012
