Bake from the Dead

There’s a cupcake connoisseur coming to town, but don’t come looking for frosting-topped sweets from this most unusual of bakeshops. When Johnny Cupcakes and his Coffin Tour roll into town on Friday, October 19, expect nothing less than the unexpected.

Cupcakes from the Crypt, a coast-to-coast pop-up shop tour, will bring a full collection of ghostly and ghoulish — and of course, limited edition — shirts for one night only to The Lab at 137, 610 East Roosevelt Street. That’s right, no food. Johnny Cupcakes mastermind and entrepreneurial wizard, Johnny Earle, has been turning out his signature cupcake printed apparel since 2005. From trendy college kids to bakers and chefs, the brand boasts a cult following who gobble up the quirky, cupcake-and-bones garb.
