On Friday, October 26, Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art will be the place to see and be seen as four new exhibitions are unveiled to the public to the tune of live performance, music, and plenty of creative-people-watching.

SMoCA’s Fall Opening is free, open to the public, and an opportunity to rub elbows with exhibiting artists including Phoenix-based painter Carrie Marill, Brazilian architect Hector Zamora, and Los Angeles artist Sherin Guirguis. Their work (along with fashion items by local young artists) are featured in this seasons shows “southwestNET: Sherin Guirguis and Carrie Marill”, “Architecture + Art: Hector Zamora”, “West of Center: the Counterculture Experiment in America, 1965-1977,” and “Steering the Spaceship Earth: Teens Respond to the Whole Earth Catalog.”

If you make it to the opening celebration, from 7 to 10 p.m. at 7374 East Second Street, don’t miss an appearance from Fayette Hauser, an original member from the San Francisco-based theatre troupe The Cockettes, and the after-party from 10 to 11 p.m. at AZ88, 7353 East Scottsdale Mall, with cocktails by Absolut vodka.

Fri., Oct. 26, 7-10 p.m., 2012
