Since pretty much forever, nature has played muse to artists. Forests, flowers, fruit bowls, and whatever artists can get their hands on have been captured and immortalized in all kinds of media for centuries.

To celebrate the natural muse, the West Valley Arts Council and the Sci-Tech Festival are teaming up and featuring work by local artists that features botanical and floral drawings, on view through Monday, March 18. According to the council, the “Floral Art & Botanical Illustrations Show” includes paintings that “demonstrate floral specimens, vegetables, and art that captures the true beauty that surrounds us through watercolor, pastel, oil, colored pencil, and pencil work.”

Fridays, 8:30-11:30 a.m.; Mondays-Thursdays, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Starts: Feb. 8. Continues through March 18, 2013
