Thanks to Mother’s Day, we get an annual reminder of where we came from but where did we all come from? The Encyclopedia Show AZ tackles creation myths on Sunday, May 11.
Whether your preferred origin of humankind starts in complete darkness like in Genesis or involves, say, the world as we know it growing upon the back of a sea turtle like the Iroquois, the imagery of most creation myths is pretty intense. We’re excited to see how the performers of the Encyclopedia Show AZ, ranging from poets and comedians to dancers and filmmakers, bring to life their angle on those important cultural stories. It’s oddly apt for the last show of the season to focus on the beginnings of everything.
The Encyclopedia Show AZ: Creation Myths will take place at The Empty Space Theater, 970 East University Drive in Tempe. The show starts at 7 p.m., and admission is free. Visit www.encyclopediashowaz.com for more information.
