Not sure if the movie you’re watching is considered film noir? Here are a few dead giveaways: There is a private detective. There is a woman who is maybe not so trustworthy (but totally pretty). You could call it “gritty.” You might also There are lots of shadows and shadowy figures and/or people acting shady. The good guy is kinda bad actually. The bad guy is straight-up menacing. And while the problems good guy faces are not black and white, the coloring of the film may be.
Still unsure? You’ll just have to head to FilmBar for A Night of Noir. The one-night-only screening will feature short films from Jump Ship Productions and Running Wild Films including Who is the Mannequin? (menacing!) and a newly edited version of Detective’s Lover (hey, a detective!). And you’ll get the hang of it soon enough, kiddo.
