While some people are starting to speculate about which hit will sweep the Golden Globes, how many Grammy nominations Taylor Swift will squeeze out of her latest album, or if Interstellar just clinched an Oscar win for Matthew McConaughey, Phoenicians have a different award ceremony on their minds: the third annual Mayor’s Arts Awards.
Presented by Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton and Phoenix Center for the Arts, the Mayor’s Arts Awards aim to acknowledge locals who are leading the way in six specializations — visual arts, theater, music, public art, dance, and creative writing — on Friday, November 21, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Phoenix Center for the Arts, 1202 North Third Street. This night of entertainment will feature live performances from groups like Rising Youth Theatre, Teatro Bravo, and Voices of the Desert. Tickets are $75, which include one drink and unlimited appetizers, and can be purchased by calling 602-254-3100 or visiting phoenixcenterforthearts.org/events/mayors-arts-awards.
Fri., Nov. 21, 7-9 p.m., 2014
