The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $15,000 by August 9.
There’s a lot going on this time of year in the Valley of the Sun, so when we give up coveted print for an event that’s outside of the ‘hood, you know that it’s well worth the nod. And yes, the Wild Wild West Steampunk Convention at Tucson’s coolest — and perhaps only — movie studio, Old Tucson, 201 South Kinney Road, is a big deal, if for nothing more than the fact that the steampunks will be out during daylight. If you’re not certain how the Wild West and Steampunk intersect, you can start by dusting off that VHS of Back To The Future 3. Yup, flying locomotives, that’s about right. Tickets are $41 and up. The all-ages festivities begin at 10 a.m. Friday through Sunday, March 6 through 8. Visit www.wildwestcon.com for details.
