Heard of Taps Signature Cuisine & Bar?
If you live outside Litchfield Park, chances are you haven’t. The bar and restaurant, which opened in 2008, is located in Old Town Litchfield and has recently opened a second location in Peoria’s Park West shopping district.
Like the original location, the new Taps venue will see chef Ephraim Gallor, formerly the corporate chef at the FOX Sports Grill (now closed) and the regional executive chef at Ruth’s Chris Steak House, offering a menu of comfort food cuisine with a twist and with influences from both coasts as well as the Southwest.
Here’s what diners can expect.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $15,500 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
Along with starters of ahi tuna and bacon-wrapped dates, Taps offers entrees such as stuffed chicken breast, New Zealand lamb lollipops, and a prime dip sandwich of Angus ribeye.
But the highlight on the restaurant’s menu is said to be the Taps Tart, a shortbread dough filled with meats, cheeses, and vegetables and then baked. There are several varieties including the CapreTasty made with pesto-marinated chicken, mozzarella, basil, tomatoes, and ricotta Alfredo.
“Taps is a chef-driven restaurant and bar that specializes in a friendly neighborhood approach to hospitality, from-scratch signature and creative cuisine, live musical entertainment and a well-rounded wine and microbrew selection,” says Gallor. “We work to deliver a menu based on our guest’s palates, as well as a high-end approach to recipes, execution and plating, without any of the pretension.”
