For the culturally-conscious coffee sipping types, a new shop coming to downtown Phoenix in September promises to mix the java with the justice — specifically for coffee farmers in Rwanda.
Set to open at 6 a.m., Tuesday, September 4, Eighth Day Coffee & Culture, located at 828 North 2nd Street (nearby FilmBar), will be brewing up 100% arabica, community-traded coffee from Rwanda, Haiti and Thailand. Eighth Day claims it’s the only java house in greater Phoenix to serve the brand, Land of a Thousand Hills.
In addition to giving a bit of hope to those less fortunate, here’s what else coffee fans can expect from Eighth Day — plus, the coffee menu.
In addition to Wi-Fi, indoor and outdoor seating, and a cozy couch area and study room, Eight Day will host rotating local art shows and live music on First Fridays and at special times each month.

At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $15,500 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
