On the day I visited George’s Famous Gyros in Scottsdale, George and company were celebrating their four-year anniversary with free gyros for the taking. This Fry Girl bit, then asked owner George Salvaridis how he was planning to celebrate.

“I’m taking the team to the F1 Race Factory, then we’re goin’ to the bar,” he says with a grin.

He’s got good reason to celebrate. As a 28-year-old aviation school graduate with a license to fly, George’s Famous Gyros was Salvaridis’ plan B. Now, with four years of Greek fare from Chicago under his belt,  Fry Girl’s wonderin’ how in the hell this plan came together in the first place, and what’s the deal with the woman who drinks his homemade tzatziki from a soda cup?
