Reader support matters more than ever
We're in the final stretch of our summer campaign. Our goal is to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the journalism our community relies on. Reader support is helping shape the future of local news.
Tempe certainly lost some major mojo when longtime Mill Avenue hangout Long Wong’s closed a few years back. In its heyday, there was no better place to eat a burger and some wings, knock back a few cold ones, and watch local bands kick out the jams.
But now the same folks who ran that popular restaurant/music venue for 24 years are about to open Long Wong’s at the Firehouse, on Apache at McClintock (1639 E. Apache, 480-967-0167).
Avi Sadote, who was involved with the old Mill Ave spot, is partnering with Ron and Andy Goldstein to “duplicate — but in a much larger scale — what we had on Mill.” He says they’ll open by the end of next week, pending final approvals from the City of Tempe.
Look for a familiar comfort food/pub grub menu, expanded to include pizzas, organic salads, and wraps. There will be a full bar as well.
