Looking for a little ‘que with your boo?

Starting at noon this Saturday, October 29, over 45 barbecue teams from across the nation will compete for smoked glory (and $10,000 in prizes) at the Roctober BBQ Boo Bash and Halloween Fest at Rock Springs Café & Saloon, the old-timey restaurant and pie haven in Black Canyon City.

Justin Beckett, owner and chef of Beckett’s Table and scheduled speaker at this year’s TEDxPhoenix event, will be one of the judges along with chef Matt McLinn, formerly of The Grind.

Along with awards (and eats) for the best barbecued chicken, brisket, pork, and pork ribs, there will also be kid-centric activities like a costume and pie eating contest. And with half of the proceeds from the ‘que sampling going to Boys and Girls Clubs of the East Valley, stuffing your face seems like the charitable thing to do.
