Have you been to Coronado Cafe lately? I’m loving how the new owners have made gradual improvements to the restaurant’s already-charming decor and menus, and I especially like their outdoor patios. There’s a small one in the front, and a larger one on the side. Both are a great place to fuel up on a nice breakfast and strong coffee on weekends.
Last couple times I was there, I got the Coronado Benedict, and it was so good I’m hungry for another one. How to break out of this pattern? I don’t know, and don’t care.
Soft toasted foaccia toppped with poached eggs, Hatch green chiles, hollendaise, and some crumbled chorizo was downright lipsmacking. It’s embarassing to think of how quickly I wolfed it all down. The potatoes were scented with rosemary.
My dining companion just got the cafe breakfast special and was happy with a classic breakfast plate — scrambled eggs, applewood-smoked bacon, potatoes, fruit, and nine-grain toast.
Coronado Cafe offers the brunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Snag a seat outside if you want to enjoy the spring weather.
