It’s the last weekend of March, and there isn’t a single food festival in sight! What gives, Phoenix?

Oh well, we all need our rest before the big Scottsdale Culinary Festival (April 17 – 22), and there are still plenty of ways to get out of the house to enjoy the beautiful weather and meet your weekend quota of eating and drinking.

Here’s what’s on my plate for the weekend…

Eat This: Turkey Legs and Roasted Corn at The Renaissance FestivalGood morrow, thy fine friends! This weekend is your last chance to feast like a king (or queen) at the Arizona Renaissance Festival out in Apache Junction. Giant roasted turkey legs, fresh roasted corn, and a glass of mead or two are my ren-fest guilty pleasures, but there are plenty of other foods to stuff your faces with (like chocolate covered strawberries). Huzzah!

Phoenix, make your New Year’s Resolution Count!

We’re $11,000 away from reaching our $30,000 year-end fundraising goal. Your support could be what pushes us over the top. If our work has kept you informed, helped you understand a complex issue, or better connected you to your community, please consider making a contribution today.

$30,000

Drink This: Local Beer Samples at Tempe’s Festival of the Arts The 34th Annual Tempe Festival of the Arts is going down this weekend — and, well, it’s probably going to be all the same arts & crafts goods that you have been looking at for the past ten years. Bor-ing. Make the Arts Festival more fun with a bunch of beer from a couple of our local breweries. Sleep Dog, Four Peaks, and Dave Electric will all be hanging out over on Seventh and Mill pouring samples of their refreshing suds. $10 for five samples or $5 for a full glass.

Bake This: Kneadlessly Simple’s English Muffin Bread How freakin’ good does that bread look?! This month’s Daring Bakers Challenge was Dutch Crunch Bread and Pauline over at foodie blog Phenomenom nailed it with her version of Kneadlessly Simple’s English muffin bread. I cant’ wait to get in the kitchen and make this no-knead, pillow soft bread for myself.  You should try it too, no-knead = easy!
