Beyoncé, a.k.a. Sasha Fierce, is everywhere these days. She co-starred in Obsessed, a thriller that didn’t last long in theater. She’s always in the entertainment mags, whether it’s for her sense of style or cozying up to her boo, Jay-Z. “If I Were a Boy,” “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and “Halo,” B’s singles from last year’s I Am . . . Sasha Fierce, are all over the radio. Things would be pretty great, but for the D-word that’s plagued her for years. Like many of her peers — Mariah Carey, Madonna, Christina Aguilera, et al. — B can’t seem to shake her “diva” image. The pop star was scheduled to perform at New York City club M2 recently and pulled out at the last minute, according to reports, saying she didn’t have time for the gig, despite the contract she’d signed. Naturally, the club owner is screaming “lawsuit.” The singer was offered $200,000 for the show but changed her mind at the last minute saying that she’d stop by and hang out for an hour rather than perform, as she’d promised. “We sold tables for thousands of dollars for the show and spent $100,000 renting a soundboard and other equipment, as per stipulations,” M2 owner Joey Morrissey told Page Six. “What good does her showing up for an hour to do me? They’ve been totally unwilling to agree to another show.” Let’s hope Beyoncé and her alter ego, Sasha, don’t bail on her Phoenix date.
