If the Arizona Diamondbacks can improve next year, it will be fitting that they open their last homestand of this miserable season against the same Colorado Rockies that started Arizona’s recent downward spiral. Ever since the Rockies swept AZ in the 2007 NLCS, things have been downright painful for the D-backs as they’ve gone from a team built on pitching to a squad with the worst ERA in the National League.

Colorado has had more luck. After shedding most of its 2007 roster, the Rockies have built a core of talented young players that has put them in contention this year and figures to keep them there for years to come.
