If manufacturing sick-ass mixes and phat sounds were a crime, then The Gaslamp Killer undoubtedly would have fried in the electric chair by now. The 25-year-old turntablist genius is a certifiable freak, whether he’s sporting kinky hairstyles or molesting the wheels of steel to spit out his filthy-sounding experimental flows of abstract hip-hop, avant-rap, psychedelic rock, grunge tracks, and squalid bass beats. Born William Bensussen, the dude’s become a staple of the SoCal underground party scene (as well as a part of influential L.A. club Low End Theory) and will share his jams with the fly folks down at Club Red, 2155 East University Drive in Tempe, during the weekly Blunt Club session on Thursday, January 15. Cali chica DJ Issa and residents Pickster Uno and Element will also spin. The beats start blasting at 9 p.m. with a $15 cover. Call 480-966-4733.
