$10,000

The DJ scene around the ’Nix is quite tumultuous. Turntablists have a habit of changing up their weekly nights more often than Lindsay Lohan changes boyfriends. You know the drill: Your favorite jocks will be working the stage at a chic Scottsdale danceteria one week, only to replace it with a gig at some hipster hangout in downtown Phoenix the next. So we’re sure you’ll be pleased as punch that some of the best beat-slingers in P-Town will gather for Local Motion on Saturday, January 12, at AREA Phoenix, 2102 North 23rd Avenue. You won’t need MapQuest or MySpace to hunt down where peeps like Annexx, Soloman, or Matthew Harris will be working the wax this week, as the spinsters (along with more than a dozen other Valley DJs) will do their thing on two different stages at the event. The lineup also includes DJs Bacteria, Matt Dunn, Starr, Tranzit, Richard Anthony, Abstract, Moctezuma, and Yogi, as well as special guests Jeremy Charles and Taylor Pakula from L.A. Doors open at 9 p.m., and admission costs $15 before 10:30 p.m., $20 afterwards. Call 602‑791‑0872.
