The list of what frightens Americans would be way too long to reproduce here, but have you ever wondered what frightens Pakistanis? To learn that, you can check out the fourth annual International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival.
Hell’s Ground (Zibahkhana), a 2007 Pakistani shocker featuring a chain-mace-wielding killer in a burqa, is only one of the nightmares offered up at this year’s festival of freakiness. Tokyo Gore Police, a 2008 entry from Japan, will also help the fest earn its “International” designation. Other highlights include showings of vintage American scare pictures such as the original Friday the 13th and a 50th-anniversary screening of the original version of The Blob, with Steve McQueen against a shapeless crimson terror from space.
Actor Jeffrey Combs, the impressive star of Re-Animator, Bride of Re-Animator, and other faves, is this year’s special guest, and the weekend will also feature a variety of costume contests, parties, and other fun.
