Island BBQ. Tropical drinks. Pseudo-Tahitian dancers. Hey, we’re all for commodifying Polynesian culture in exchange for a night of gluttony and drunken depravity. That’s why we’re chomping at the bit for the second annual Tiki Lounge Party. We can already hear the glorious song of inebriety echoing in the vomitoriums. (Ah, we’re confusing cultures now, but who gives a shit?)

Adding to the ethno-syncretic pileup will be a killer surf-rock lineup featuring the Swamp Coolers, Surfside IV, Shrimp Chaperone, and Wolf Man and The Nards from Tucson. If you haven’t already reached saturation levels, you can feast your eyes on some live tiki-carving and lowbrow art while listening to a selection of vinyl exotica from MC Zippy, El Dedo, and D. Scott.

Will you step up to support New Times this year?

At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $15,500 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
