Dog’s Day Out
Do you frequently find yourself at the bar on Sunday afternoons, talking the closest stranger’s ear off about how awesome your dog is? Wish you could hang out with people who didn’t view you as a crazy dog parent? This Sunday, August 8, you and your canine companion are invited to Winestyles for Yappy Hour from 1 to 4 p.m. Give your dog the chance to make new friends while you sip on a glass of wine and chat it up with other dog owners about the cutest thing little princess did last week. $5 wine by the glass specials all day long; admission is free. Squash Blossoms Gone Wild
2010 has been a good year for the squash blossom. Never before have we seen so many creative uses for this brightly colored, edible flower. Normally a stuff-fry-and-eat food, the squash blossom is starting to show up in a variety of different recipes — everything from pizza to sushi, and now muffins. In this Zucchini Blossom Muffin recipe, they are still stuffed with cheese, but instead of being fried, they are baked in a citrus-y treat.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $15,500 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
