There’s been a rip-roaring debate raging through the religious world for years over the role of Christian rock. Although some hard-liners feel it’s the devil’s music and has no place in the Lord’s house of worship, more moderate (and less fundamentalist) types feel it’s just another avenue for paying tribute to Yahweh. We tend to agree with the latter camp, if for no other reason than we’re certain that the Deity who created Jimi Hendrix would approve of a few three-chord hosannahs thrown his way by the likes Portland’s Kutless or Mississippi’s Wavorly. Both bands will be in attendance at this weekend’s hellaciously holy Rage Music Festival. More than two dozen Christian-rock outfits will perform in raucous reverence for the Almighty starting Saturday, January 17. The lineup features out-of-towners such as San Diego’s Future of Forestry as well as locals Emerald Honor, Ivoryline, and others.
