It can’t all be appetizing news. Today’s big story is downright nauseating.
The fundraiser that Mesa’s new Pizza Fusion restaurant held in conjunction with its grand opening — which was intended to help Frank and Tracy Smith, who were seriously injured in a car accident that killed their two young sons — collected about $8,000. Later that night, between midnight and 3 a.m. on Sunday, somebody burglarized the restaurant and stole much of the proceeds.
The thieves broke into the vacant space next to the restaurant, then broke through the drywall to get into Pizza Fusion’s office, where the money was being kept.
Now Pizza Fusion is trying to raise more money to make up for the loss. According to a press release this morning, donations can be made by debit or credit card through www.pizzafusion.com, by check (made out to the Tracy and Frank Smith family fund) at any Wells Fargo bank, or in person at Pizza Fusion, 5735.
