Independent Journalism in Phoenix Needs You
We need to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
America’s Taco Shop hasn’t even hit its first anniversary yet (that’s next Tuesday) but the successful restaurant is already planning a second location.
Remember the short-lived Bantu Bistro on 7th Avenue? That’s the spot (4447 N. 7th Ave.) America’s Taco Shop owner Terry Bortin says he’s already torn up the floor and started the renovations to the space.
“An opportunity came in front of us that I couldn’t pass up,” he says. “Hopefully we can go in and be a staple in the neighborhood.”
The menu will be the same affordable mix of tacos, burritos, and tortas with the house specialty, carne asada, along with ceviche, aguas frescas, and other homemade Mexican treats. They’re shooting for a December opening.
