Shh, be berry, berry quiet. A little red-headed sprite named Wendy is planning to unleash a super-food salad this summer loaded with blueberries, strawberries, almonds, and a dressing made with açaî juice.
The word’s out thanks to the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council, those bastards whose sole purpose is to think of ways folks can eat more blueberries. Just kidding. They’re not bastards — that’s the “Got Milk” gang.
According to the blue crew, Wendy’s tested the Berry Almond Chicken Salad last summer and are planning on promoting it May through August. The limited-time super-salad is just 460 calories (100 with the dressing) and will contain mixed greens, BLUEBERRIES, strawberries, toasted almonds, Asiago cheese, and grilled chicken with fat-free raspberry vinaigrette made with açaî (ah-sigh-EE) juice.
Given the success of their Garden Sensation Salads (my faves are the BLT Cobb and the Apple Pecan Chicken), the chances that Wendy’s new Berry Almond Chicken Salad will blow our antioxidant minds is decent. And that ain’t the blueberries talkin’, that’s Fry Girl.
