”West of Western Culinary Festival? Don’t you mean Best of Western?” We can’t tell you how many times we heard the local culinary crowd gripe about the name of one of Phoenix’s largest and best known foodie events. It really was a mouthful.

Take a bite out of Cheuvront’s creamy desserts at Devoured 2010.

Thankfully, when Local First Arizona‘s “Devour Phoenix” restaurant coalition took over the Phoenix Art Museum’s annual gourmet event, they chose a new and more sensible name — Devoured.

The inaugural Devoured Culinary Festival will take place March 13-14, 2010 at the Phoenix Art Museum. The event will feature wine and food tastings in the museum’s sculpture garden, plus an indoor stage with nutrition talks, chef’s recipes and wine/beer pairings.

“Devoured gives us a platform to promote Arizona’s own chefs, restaurants and vintners,” says Local First Arizona director Kimber Lanning. So far, they’ve lured over 35 participants, including Switch, Cheuvront, Radio Milano and veggie joint Green.

Tickets to the 2010 Devoured Culinary Festival go on sale Tuesday, December 15. Advance tickets are $65, or $90 for a 2-day pass. Purchase tickets online at www.ProTix.com
