Gin Blossoms’ frontman Robin Wilson is one of 30 musicians from around the globe planning to climb Africa’s Mount Kilimanjaro, the world’s largest freestanding mountain, to raise money for the Love Hope Strength Foundation in September and October.
But before the big climb, Wilson and Gin Blossoms uber-guitarist Scotty Johnson, will help raise funds for the music centric cancer charity with a benefit show Tuesday, June 23 at Tempe’s Last Exit Bar & Grill. The show, which will be held from 8 to 10 p.m., will feature a few additional musicians to be announced along with the two GB’s. There’s no cover but donations will be accepted at the door.
This promises to be a rare, intimate show for Gin Blossoms fans. Wilson and Johnson usually throw in a few Gin Blossoms hits along with some of their solo music when they perform acoustically.
