The empty dirt lot at 408 E Roosevelt St. will look a little bit different for April’s First Friday when Roosevelt Row CDC launches its first A.R.T.S. Market, which will give local vendors a chance to sell their creations, work together, and ultimately promote the community.
While many vendors already set up shop outside galleries and on storefront lawns, the A.R.T.S. Market will include curated fine arts, handmade crafts, and culinary goods. And the vendor fees (normally paid to the landowners) will be used to support Roosevelt Row public art projects, lot cleanup and revitalization, and the Mural Match program, to name a few.
The open-air market will run every First and Third Friday from 6 to 11 p.m., year-round, rain (!) or shine.
A.R.T.S. is part of Roosevelt Row’s greater Adaptive Re-use of Temporary Space (A.R.T.S.) program that aims to revitalize and activate the many vacant lots by hosting temporary markets, community gardens, cultural fairs, public arts projects, and more.
