Brian Coughlin chimed in on three tracks from local artists in last week’s installment of Sound Off with Jason Woodbury. Now you can hear what he and local indie rockers, Kinch, have to offer with their latest effort The Incandenza streaming online.
The new record picks up where 2009 EP, Collars and Sleeves left off, delivering upbeat melodies built on piano-driven hooks and aggressive guitar riffs. According to the band’s bandcamp page the album was influenced by, “Lux coffee, Boss orange distortion pedals, Steinway B’s, David Foster Wallace, samplemoog, anxiety, acid reflux, and downstrokes.” It’s charming from beginning to end with my favorite moment happening in the airy-synth laden, “VHS.”
The official release show is taking place next month, October 13, at the Rhythm Room. You can preorder your copy from the band’s website but you don’t have to wait until then to hear the full album. Check it out here.
