It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas–even though Halloween is still just around the corner. As grocery stores begin to stock their Christmas crap decorations, the last show announcements of the year trickle in. Historically, the line up for Alice Cooper’s Christmas Pudding gets announced every October, and while we don’t have the full line up just yet, we do have a very big announcement–Johnny Depp. No, the actor won’t be making a brief appearance with Alice — he’s actually performing.

“Johnny will join Alice and his band featuring Orianthi, Don Felder, L.A. Guns, and special guest host John O’Hurley for a night of music, dance, and mayhem!” says a post on Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Facebook page.

Johnny Depp is a talented actor, a lothario, and an all around badass, but I don’t need to state the obvious. The same man who played Captain Jack Sparrow, Edward Scissorhands, and Raoul Duke has history as a singer and guitarist, so here’s a look at Johnny Depp’s five coolest most rock ‘n roll moments.

Editor's Picks

Johnny Depp has performed with Alice Cooper before.
This video starts off with Alice explaining that he met “Mr. Jack Sparrow” after he opened for The Rolling Stones. Depp joins Cooper’s band for two songs- “Eighteen” and “School’s Out.”

Jamming with Keith Richards.
Speaking of The Rolling Stones, it was pretty cool to see Richards play Captain Jack Sparrow’s father in Pirates of the Caribbean, but the duo’s friendship didn’t end there. Depp joined Richards for a blues jam at the Rum Diary after party.

Singing in movies.
Johnny Depp sort of made his singing debut in Cry Baby…the only kicker is that he didn’t actually sing. He lipsynched over James Intveld’s parts, but still looked pretty rad performing in a Johnny Cash-inspired role.

Years later, he able to show off his vocal chops in Sweeney Todd, which made the demon barber of Fleet Street even creepier.

Playing guitar with Eddie Vedder.
Johnny was invited on stage to play guitar with Vedder on an acoustic song from the Into the Wild soundtrack. This wasn’t a one time thing, the duo performed the song at a West Memphis Three rally and were later joined by Patti Smith.

Rocking out with Marilyn Manson.

“Beautiful People” is pretty much the opposite of “Society,” but Depp accentuates Manson’s creepiness as the shock rocker gets his face all up in Johnny’s business.

Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp are scheduled to perform at Christmas Pudding at Comerica Theatre on Saturday, December 8.
