Designers spend hours sketching designs, making patterns, and hunched at sewing machines preparing to show their looks to the world. This Thursday night, Valley designers will get their moment in the spotlight to reveal their hard work at Scottsdale Fashion Week‘s community runway show.
Plucked from the group of local designers is Rebecca Turley who was recently awarded Fashion Week’s “Designer of the Year” award. Turley, who creates her Nostalgic Boutique lines out of her Gilbert home, will now be showing at the Saturday night runway show with other noted designers such as Katharine Kidd and Kevan Hall.
Read more about the designer and what’s coming up at Scottsdale Fashion Week after the jump…
Turley began her career after completing her studies at the Fashion Institute of Design and Technology in California. She returned to her home state of Arizona after working for several years in the industry as a seller and assistant designer. After returning to Phoenix, she began to build her own line in late 2008. She says her style is inspired by vintage ’40s and ’50s fashion, which she admires because of its timeless and flattering lines.
Turley’s show at Fashion Week will feature fall and spring/summer looks that showcase her usual feminine flair with some military and menswear charm added to mix things up. She also incorporates her love for vintage in the show with designs created from locally purchased vintage fabrics.
Turley’s designs are available at her website, Nostalgic Boutique, as well as Scottsdale’s Local Talent AZ boutique.
