Handmade Riot is known for creating furnishings, toys, and oddities, while making it a priority in using reclaimed materials using inspiration from its surroundings, i.e. the historic homes in and around downtown Phoenix. You can find the company’s offerings at Frances, GROWop, and MADE Art Boutique.
In honor of Handmade Riot’s first birthday, the self-dubbed “makers, creators, and shape shifters” behind the company, Nicole Whittington and James Waldron, will host an art show featuring some of their favorite artists. On the show’s roster are Breeze Marcus, Niki Rose Noriega, Sammy Black, Sarah Hurwitz, Spencer Hibert, and Tedd Roundy.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $16,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
The opening reception kicks off at 7 p.m. For more information, see Handmade Riot’s Facebook page.
