Phoenix is a ship out of water… both figuratively and literally. We are
located amidst an arid desert where people could not otherwise dwell, and
yet water is artificially diverted to keep us nourished. And, as supply is
always finite, so is this water available to the valley. Phoenix’s limited
supply comes from a share of the Colorado River, the Salt River Project, and
ground water. There is an increasing need for conservation as the state
suffers a drought and global warming continues to advance…we must act as a
community to take care of this ship.
The countdown to Best of Phoenix begins! Last year, we profiled 100 Creatives who made a mark on the local arts scene. This year, we’ll have 100 creative representations of Phoenix.
No scope or requirement on medium or size — we’ll include photography,
painting, sculpture, video, installation, literary, and more. What do
you see when you Imagine PHX?
