As we reported yesterday, Phoenix alt-rock station The Edge is currently broadcasting in iPod mode as the DJs are on hiatus while the station’s creditors, who have taken control of the boards, implement cost-cutting moves and a “format modification.” When the humans successfully battle back against the robots, we’ll be hearing more 90s hits and less current music, the station’s GM says.
Meanwhile, the station has now rolled out a new Web site, complete with an (ahem) “new” logo that’s likely not very new to indie rock fans in Los Angeles. Above is The Edge’s new logo. Below is defunct LA station (now “Regional Mexican” format) Indie 103.1‘s logo. While the logos may be the same, don’t expect to hear any Warpaint in the near future. By the way, the stations are not owned by the same people, so they don’t have that excuse. Does this bode well for the future of The Edge?
