$10,000

One new idea for every day in 2011. We’re talking big, small, local,
international, in action and on the drawing board. Here’s today’s —
what’s yours?

Six Arizona artists are working to organize, fund, and produce a reactionary arts festival that won’t be featuring their own work. Instead of adding to the “already crowded debate” over SB1070 and other immigration legislation, the group is hoping to invite artists living in Mexico to share their own thoughts.

“We feel the word “Arizona” has come to
divide us, has come between us, between nosotros and our neighbor to the south,” the group writes. “But we want to change that, and we’re going to do something about it.”

If the artists can raise enough money by their Kickstarter deadline on April 20, Arizona Between Nosotros will be a festival that brings cutting-edge Mexican performance and video artists to Arizona this summer to showcase their work, facilitate workshops, and host roundtable discussions on Arizona/Mexico relations.
