A new queen of pop has been crowned by Rolling Stone, according to Idolator.
Rolling Stone put 16 female pop stars head to head in the ultimate statistical showdown to see who would reign as queen. Competitors included Adele, Beyonce Knowles, Britney Spears, Carrie Underwood, Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Pink, Rihanna, Robyn, Shakira, and Taylor Swift.
The decision was made based on the winners of eight categories. Taylor Swift won in the most album sales and awards and had the best overall album reviews. Gaga had the most digital tracks and airplay, and she also topped the Billboard Hot 100 and was the leader in the social networking category. Rihanna won in YouTube hits. Pink dominated in touring revenue.
Not surprisingly, Lady Gaga came out on top in the end. It was a close call!
