Martha Cooper‘s a household name in street art photography. She grew up taking photographs with her father and was turned on to graffiti and street art while living in New York.

She brought the art form into the limelight when she wrote and published Subway Art in 1984, and is known for her obsessive documentation street art pieces throughout the last 60 years.

This year, she’s bringing her subjects back to recreate (or remix) her own photos in their own style.

Her show, Martha Cooper: Remix
is currently on view at Carmichael Gallery in Culver City, California, and includes
