Time to dust off the old sewing machine and take notes from a local creative.
Fashion designer Tiffe Fermaint, who’s shown her wares at local fashion weeks, design competitions and in Downtown galleries, is looking to get back behind her machine and is dishing out a few helpful techniques.
The Phoenix-based designer came back to town after attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and working backstage at fashion events for Meghan Fabulous brand and designer Brian Litchtenberg.
She’s currently working on new designs and voicing her opinion on local fashion through her blog, Last Night’s Outfit.
This fall, she says she’ll be hosting individual, “after-school”-type sessions Monday through Friday after 4 p.m. and anytime on the weekends. She encourages those interested to bring ideas for a garment of their choice. You provide the pattern (cut out), fabric, and thread, and she’ll provide the machine and lesson plans.
Each two-hour session is $40 and sessions can be booked until the garment is complete, or until you’re comfortable enough to try it on your own. Email info@tiffefermaint.com for more information.
